Latvian spruce is characterized by short, sharp, dark green needles. The spruce is shaped, with dense branching. The spruce has a very pronounced aroma. Carved Latvian spruce lasts indoors for an average of up to 2 weeks.
Nordmann spruce has soft, long needles - green from above and silver from below. The spruce is particularly voluminous due to its long, thick needles and dense branching. Carved Nordmann spruce lasts indoors for an average of up to ~ 4 weeks, after which the spruce begins to dry. Silver spruce has dark green, bluish-gray or silver, very sharp needles, strong branches. The color of silver spruce needles can vary depending on the place of growth and seasonal weather conditions. Spruces have a specific aroma. Carved silver spruce lasts indoors for up to ~ 2-3 weeks.
It is recommended to keep the Christmas tree in a cool place. To preserve the appearance of the Christmas tree for a longer time, it must be placed in a stand with water and the stand must be regularly refilled with water. If the Christmas tree is kept in a warm room,
it is also recommended to regularly spray the needles with water. Place the Christmas tree away from radiators and other heat sources, protecting the Christmas tree from drying out. If the room where the Christmas tree stands has a warm floor, this will contribute to the drying out and shedding of the needles.
If you have very limited space, we recommend choosing a Latvian Christmas tree, which will take up the least space in the room in terms of diameter.
If you want to replant your Christmas tree after the holidays, we recommend choosing a Latvian Christmas tree or silver fir in a pot as small as possible - 0.6m ~ 1m would be the recommended length. If you plan to keep the Christmas tree indoors, it should initially be kept in a cooler place so that there are no drastic temperature changes. In turn, the Christmas tree should be placed in a room as cool as possible - away from radiators and other heating elements. Make sure that the root ball of the Christmas tree is moist and does not dry out. Water it as needed - if the air in the room is dry, then the Christmas tree should be watered more often. It is recommended to place the pot in which the Christmas tree grows in a bowl (similar to flower pots having saucers or trays) and then water the Christmas tree until water appears in the container under the pot. The Christmas tree should be kept in the pot until spring and then transplanted to the chosen location. However, it should be brought outdoors immediately after the holidays so that it does not get used to the heat - the time spent indoors should be as short as possible! A good option for storing the Christmas tree until it can be processed is a balcony - of course, provided that the outdoor temperature is not lower than 10-15 degrees. It should also be taken into account - difficulties in wintering may arise for those trees that have felt the warmth of candle flames or been covered with artificial snow during the holidays. The right time to plant a Christmas tree is mid-April, when the ground has thawed. Then the planting takes place - the tree should be as deep as it grew in the pot. When taking the Christmas tree out of the pot, it should not be pulled out by force - it should be carefully removed with all the soil in which the Christmas tree roots are located. Once the tree is in the hole, make sure the roots are loose and not bent upwards, but at the same time, make sure it is not too deep in the hole. After planting, it should be watered thoroughly. In addition, if it does not rain for a while after planting the tree, the tree should be watered every other day so that it can take root better. To help the tree grow better after transplanting, it can be covered with mulch.
